The Accounts

We are almost a debt free family. Our last card to pay off is my Target card. It has a low limit (which I am grateful for) and we have budgeted more than the minimum payment each month to pay.

Right now we have $1.23 in our checking account. That is o.k. because we use the envelope system.

In our baby step 1 emergency savings we have $779.05.

We have 3 checks that need to be cashed and put into ... well originally one was for food – to be added to the money in the Food Envelope. The rest was to go into the savings account.

A few weeks ago on my way to work I got lost and it was raining. I went down what I thought was a two lane frontage road that would take me to the back of the shopping center. I quickly saw that there was a fence and no entrance to turn into. I turned around, no one else was on the road, and then I saw it, arrows painted on the road. IT WAS ONE WAY. I tried not to panic. I slowed down and came to the entrance and who should be at the light? The local police officer! Yep, I got a ticket. I explained that if I had known I would have never turned down the road, but there were no signs posted and I missed those arrows on the road.

Now I have to pay a $160.00 ticket. I will go to the post office tomorrow (we have not so good mail service in our town. Once a neighbor brought me my out going letters. The mailman dropped in his yard while going on his appointed rounds. That is just one incident that happened.) and mail a check written from the savings account.

I will have to run the number past Sparky tomorrow and figure what I am doing at the bank on Monday.

Something that is also top priority Monday is finding a dentist for the children. As of January 2006 we have great dental insurance. There is a $50.00 deductible. I need to find out if that is per child. It may be. One child has cavities, so she will be in the chair first.
